How it works

    Plug it in

    Put Notiswitch in the wall socket and plug your washing machine, dryer or dishwasher into it.

    Pair it with the app

    Hold the button for 3 seconds. The app finds Notiswitch over Bluetooth, gives it your WiFi details and adds it to your account.

    Get notified

    Your phone gets a notification when a cycle starts and when it has really finished, with how long it took.

It knows a pause from the end

Washing machines go quiet halfway through a cycle to soak, drain or rebalance. A plug that only checks for low power would call that “done”. Notiswitch learns how long your machine’s pauses last and waits for the real end.

A BL0937 energy meter and an ESP32-C3 measure how much power your appliance draws.
Data stored in the EU
Sign in with Apple or Google. Your devices and cycles are stored on Google Cloud in the EU, and every connection uses TLS.

Questions

Which appliances does it work with?
Anything that runs in cycles and plugs into a wall socket. Washing machines, dryers and dishwashers are the obvious ones. Notiswitch only looks at the power draw, so the brand or age of the machine doesn’t matter.
Why doesn’t it notify me as soon as the machine goes quiet?
Because most machines go quiet several times during a cycle, to soak, drain or rebalance the drum. Notiswitch learns how long your machine’s pauses usually last and only reports a finished cycle once the quiet lasts longer than that.
Does it need WiFi?
Yes. Notiswitch uses your home WiFi (2.4 GHz) to send notifications. During setup, the app gives it your WiFi details over Bluetooth, so you never type anything on the plug itself.
Can other people in my home get the notifications?
Yes. Invite them by email from the app. Everyone you share the device with gets the start and finish notifications.
Is there an Android app?
Not at the moment. The first app is for iPhone.
What data does Notiswitch collect?
Your account’s email address and name, the devices you add, and the cycles they record: start and end times, power, duration and energy. That data is used to send your notifications and show your history. There are no ads, and your data is never sold. The privacy policy has the details.
How do I reset it?
Hold the button for 10 seconds for a factory reset. The support page explains the button and every status light pattern.
When can I get one?
Notiswitch is still in development, and the iPhone app isn’t in the App Store yet. Email info@computhings.nl if you’d like to hear when it’s available.
